So everyone talks about all of the different and gorgeous islands that make up Thailand but which is the best one to visit?
I think that without a doubt it is a toss up between Koh Pha Ngan and Ko Tao with possibly Koh Pha Ngan coming out on top.
I don't know whether or not I am biased as this island was my first exposure to Thailand and its' beauty and also had an incredible hotel to start the holiday off with. However, Koh Pha Ngan is gorgeous. It is small enough to travel by moped from top to bottom easily and the views along the way are amazing. Although not that much to do on the island, it is beyond perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun. Exploring the island in the morning, lounging by the pool in the afternoon with a full moon party thrown in there makes for an ideal holiday. It is also not only about the full moon party or partying in general, the drinks may be cheap but there is so much more to do and see here. The strip that leads to the Haad Rin Beach (Full moon party beach) is filled with tiny little shops and cheap restaurants offering the best of Thai food. The pier also leads to all other main islands, is extremely cheap and boats leave regularly. There is not one reason not to visit.

Ko Tao is even smaller than Koh Pha Ngan, making it super accessible even by foot but moped makes everything much quicker. Everything and every one is so laid back here and it appears that absolutely everyone loves the water. It is definitely the place to go snorkeling and scuba diving (I recommend with Big Blue Diving).

Another thing that must be done while on Ko Tao is travelling to Nang Yuan. The views here are outstanding and it is such a beautiful place to go snorkeling. It is only about 15 minutes by boat from the west side of Koh Tao and is dirt cheap to travel across. Although an absolute killer to do, you just have to hike the 228 steps in scorching heat to see views over this smaller island like this..

I think that every island of Thailand is gorgeous as well as pretty much anywhere that you go in Thailand but these two, especially Koh Pha Ngan stand out for their pure easygoing atmosphere, water activities and accessibility.
